For a little while I used to regale my readers with ‘site stats’. Little updates and the like. I stopped doing this ages ago, but I thought it might be interesting to revisit the idea, at least once in a while.
Some interesting tidbits: In 2015 my site had 4,222 views. So far in 2016, it’s had 3,964 views. 2016 is shaping up to beat 2015 quite easily.
Per country, the majority of views are from the UK, with 1,376 views, with the US close behind on 1,332 views. In third place, but some way back, is Australia, with 374 views.
Not counting search engines, Twitter is the top referrer to the site, contributing 445 views. The WordPress viewer is next on 127 views, and Facebook is third on 55 views.
The most viewed page (if we don’t count the home page) is ‘Why Meerkats?’ on 139 views, with my page on Ayrton Senna second on 108 views, and ‘The Scary Side of Radical Feminism’ sits third with 70 views.
It’s been a while since the main site has seen any activity (unless you count a refit of my pages about Feminism). For the first time in quite some time, I present several new pages, on a subject I thoroughly enjoy – astronomy.
The planets, stars and the wider universe have long fascinated me, and I hope you you like what I have to say about them!
If you follow this site, or even occasionally stop by to see what I’m saying, then please have a look at The Coalition of the Brave. We are the line in the sand against hatred.
So I’ve been looking at my site via a PC and noticed a bunch of formatting errors. Grrr!
Should I start a Web forum? If it looks like there’ll be demand I’ll do it. Let me know people!
As you may have noticed, the site has suddenly undergone a dramatic change. I’ve been toying with the idea of a new look for a little while and earlier today I was testing new themes out. This particular theme (Flat, by Themisle) is a little bit cleaner than what’s gone before, though it does seem to have bumped the formatting a little, so I might need to go and take a look at some previous posts to make sure they’re looking as they should. Aside from that, I rather like it!
So, what does this meerkat have in the pipeline?
Well, I want to get around to making another video for the site. It’s been ages since the last one, and I want to properly explore the medium, to see if it can draw attention to the site (yes, I’m blatantly seeking attention).
I want to finish my pages on astronomy, and also on trains and Football Manager. A bit of tidying up wouldn’t hurt either, and I’m considering a new theme for the site (no idea what as yet).
I’ve got a page partially written about MRAs (Men’s Rights Activists) that I need to finish, and I’ve recently been involved in a discussion with the author of Theology Archeology about faith healing. That one will be quite juicy.
Having by now been involved in a few discussions around creationism and intelligent design, I’m wondering if I should convert these debates from blog posts to a main page. I almost certainly have enough material to work with by now.
I could also add to this a few remarks about so-called ‘Social Justice Warriors’. Time to get prepping.
As the 2015/16 Premier League season enters its crucial final phase, and combined with the desire to tell this tale before my memory fails me (and before the game gives up), I am documenting what I regard as my greatest either Football Manager career – Part 1 is now up, please check it out!
I’ve been busy lately. Busy completing a few pages for the main site that have been sitting in draft limbo for quite a while, or in some cases non-existent – drafts done in my head but not actually put to paper, so to speak. It feels good to finally get some momentum going!
The focus I’ve been working on? My Stargate pages. I’ve finally added my pages about the Goa’uld and the Ancients, and I’m looking to start my page on the Wraith pretty soon. From there, I might delve into the technology of the Gateverse – we’ll see.
I’m also starting work on a series of pages about a long-standing passion of mine – astronomy. This section is still some way off completion, but when finished it will hopefully offer an insight into how awe-inspiring I find the planets, stars and the universe to be.
I look forward to sharing those pages with you!
