This Meerkat Talks Books!

It’s Tuesday 29th of September (September has flown by!), which means it’s time for another round of the Meerkat Musings… book club? Is that we’ll call this? I don’t really know… anyway!

First up, from Ian Conner comes Griffins Perch! A tale of fantasy and mystery!

In this epic fantasy saga, a wizard and an apprentice, with the assistance of a world of legendary creatures, battle to take down Daniel, a wizard gone rogue, power-hungry and determined to wreak havoc on the world. When the most powerful wizards in the land are turned into dragons by an evil wizard transgressor, a quest ensues to end a treacherous war. An army of griffins and their riders are scrambled to take down the masterful dragons and save the land from death and destruction. Denrael, leader of the Silver Order, is the polar opposite of Daniel of the Dark Wood. Calm, focused and driven, Denrael stands guard over the forests and their inhabitants. Daniel, an unpredictable and arrogant wizard, is determined to seek revenge on Denrael and release evil into the world. His plans to use chaos as a base to improve the world are thwarted by Denrael, triggering Daniel to seek the power to destroy everything. Five vicious dragons are unleashed on the world, destined to cause devastation for a thousand years. Daniel becomes Fury, a master dragon whose rage is out of control. He wreaks havoc over the land, incinerating civilisations built up over thousands of years and making existence perilous for the masses. The Delphens, a brave and honorable fox-like race, team up with a flock of good-hearted griffins, training as warriors to defeat the fire-breathing monsters who are reproducing at a terrifying rate. Wizards, pixies and elves, too, are charged with saving their world from the path of desolation the dragons are leaving in their wake. They are sent on adventures across the land to retrieve a set of magical items required to halt the terror. Pixies and merfolk, sworn enemies, must unite for the greater good. The battle against evil will require cooperation from all manner of legendary species. Shala and Flinch, a loyal and determined delphen partnership, join forces with Alia the valiant elf, Aqua the wizard’s apprentice and a whole gang of courageous mythical creatures in a quest to help Denrael save the population of the land from Fury’s cold-blooded onslaught. Can they gather all of the mystical elements required to break the dragons’ curse before Fury destroys the world with his horde? Can they put their differences aside to abate the threat of a total cataclysm? When it appears that all hope may be lost, will the fates intervene?

From Lynnda Pollio is Trusting the Currents, a multi-awarding winning spiritual journey.

Author Lynnda Pollio’s life changes abruptly when she begins hearing the mystical, elderly voice of Addie Mae Aubrey, a Southern, African American woman from the 1930s rural South. Narrated by Addie Mae Aubrey, Trusting the Currents is a story of self-discovery and the uneasy search for one’s place in life. Beginning at age eleven with the arrival of beautiful, mysterious cousin Jenny and her shadowy stepfather, Uncle Joe, Trusting the Currents explores Addie Mae’s reluctant awakening. As Jenny introduces Addie Mae to the natural world, a caring teacher guides Addie Mae with the power of reading. Romantic love enters her life for the first time with Rawley, and we learn how Addie Mae’s emerging sense of self compels her to a life-altering decision, even as fear and evil shakes their lives. There are three levels to the unique novel: Addie Mae’s powerful story, universal life messages woven throughout the book, and high energetic frequencies embedded her wisdom. Addie Mae reveals how life blossoms when we have the courage to not only accept but also learn from our mistakes and sorrows. Her story may belong to one woman, but the lessons it teaches belong to everyone willing to open their hearts and listen to the truth within their souls. Trusting the Currents is a powerful book for anyone going through change and struggle in their lives.

Last but certainly not least is The Key Masters of Telemma, from J.S. Frankel, a story of a mysterious pocket universe!

Bill Newell and Carla Meadows, both seventeen and both dying, live out their final days in a palliative care center in Portland, Oregon. Bill has no hope of recovering, but the appearance of a strange key on his bed one day intrigues him. Carla receives the same key, and soon they find themselves in a pocket universe ruled by one being, a being-not-a-being named Malgorath who wields immense power.

Malgorath makes them a deal. Find four keys, ones of silver, gold, glass, and paper, and return them to him. Upon their retrieval, he will cure them of their illness and send them back to Earth. For Malgorath, the keys are the key to finding Falnarth, a mythical world that holds many secrets.

Bill and Carla have no secrets to discover, save life. With no choice in the matter, they agree to the terms and soon find themselves journeying to worlds of silver, gold—ruled by robots—glass, ruled by a power-mad queen, and one of wood. Each key’s retrieval is more dangerous than the last but Bill and Carla are determined to succeed in their quest.

However, they soon realize that Malgorath has his own agenda, and they must do everything in their power before the demon can fuse the keys together and destroy—and recreate—the universe.
