The advent calendar is a great means for kids to start the countdown to Christmas Day, and each morning usually provides a slightly different scene (perhaps also some chocolate, depending on the calendar!) to intrigue and inspire. Down the years, the advent calendar has evolved, with a daily toy, different types of sweets, and for the grownups, even beer and wine calendars! Traditionally advent calendars go up to the 24th of December and then stop, but more and more now encompass Christmas Day, and some go right up to the end of the year. There’s no right or wrong approach here. Personally, more doors usually means more chocolate!
