The 12th door of our Meery Christmas Advent Calendar grants us the gift of song, in the shape of Christmas Carols.

Christmas Carols are often sung in Churches, but small choirs will also perform in city centres, whilst historically people would also go door-to-door to sing for people. Famous Carols include Silent Night, Joy to the World, and O Come All Ye Faithful, among many more. Carols tend to be either triumphant or solemn, but they are nearly always focused on the religious element of Christmas. Some of them are beautiful, though I have a memory of a drunken guy singing Away in a Manger at the top of his lungs one Christmas Eve, which was not the best rendition of the song I’ve ever heard.
