This one is hard. I have enjoyed many meals over the span of my life, and choosing a favourite dish is going to be very difficult. A good burger (as in, perfect meat-to-bun ratio, the right amount of cheese and other toppings, sloppiness of it etc) is amazing, and I have been fortunate enough to have a few of those in my time. A good chicken pie is a thing of glory (gravy in it, not that weird creamy sauce), and southern-fried chicken, if done right, is also a thing of glory.
Roast beef can be utterly delectable. If it more or less flakes apart, and melts in the mouth, it is divine. Combined with crispy, golden roast potatoes, juicy carrots, slightly soft brussel sprouts, and lashings of rich gravy… Oh wow.
However, if I were forced to define my absolute favourite meal, one that brings back memories of warm, cosy evenings, and of cherished loved ones, it would be a roast lamb dinner. Perfectly cooked lamb is absolutely incredible. It is glorious in many forms, but as a roast dinner, with mint sauce, and all the trimmings, it is elevated.
I have enjoyed many of these dinners, and what can I say? They evoke memories of sitting around the table, chatting to family, sometimes about absolutely nothing, and what is more precious than that?
