What things give you energy?

What provides me with power? What fuels this meerkat?

Well, I have to give a mention to caffeine. My blood supply is surely part-coffee by now.

I suspect this question is more philosophical than literal, but I will also give an honourable mention to food. Food gives me energy. That’s my smart-ass answer.

If we look at what gives my life energy, I have to say, without a doubt, my wife and daughter, which is a sappy answer, but also an honest one. It goes without saying that I love them, as I do my folks, brother, sister-in-law and their kids, as I do my extended family of cousins, aunts, and uncles. I draw strength from all of them, but especially my wife and daughter. They are the reason I get up and go to work, even when I would really prefer not to.

I also draw strength from my friends. I have a smallish circle of friends, people I like and trust.

This may sound strange, but I also draw a lot of power from the shows and movies that inspire me. Star Trek, Star Wars, The Lion King, all of it offers me hope and encouragement.

On some very rare occasions, I might gain energy from sport, but that’s very, very rare.
