The Blogger Games – Week 5

We come to it at last. This is the end, the final test of steel and zeal. Welcome to the grand finale of The Blogger Games!

Before diving into the final battle for medals, I wanted to thank Paul for his creativity and his fun ideas. These quizzes are a means of bringing people together for some harmless and entertaining fun, and the world needs more light in it. Paul, keep shining that light! Now, on to the final push for glory!

1. I used to have two pet fish named “Fish E.” and “Binoculars”.
A) True
B) False

Hmm. I can readily imagine that Paul would name a fish ‘Fish E’, so I’m going A: True.

2. I got lost in an Olive Garden (the restaurant).
A) True
B) False

Weeeeel, I’d say it’s not possible to get lost in such a venue but all things are possible, especially given my own experiences, so I’m saying A: True.

3. I found $5 in a book at the public library.
A) True
B) False

People find all sorts of things in library books. Some of those things I dare not discuss (especially given the things I’ve found working in retail), but money is probably quite a common one. I can imagine people using bank notes as a bookmark; not a wise move, but I bet it happens a lot. Therefore A: True.

4. I was vacuuming the house at Age 3.
A) True
B) False

My mind went to the possibility this was a trap. Vacuuming with a toy vacuum maybe? Because most three year-olds surely wouldn’t have the strength to handle a typical vacuum cleaner? I have to say B: False.

5. I fell in a puddle at recess in elementary school.
A) True
B) False

We all fall down sometimes, but then we rise! A: True.

6. I don’t drink coffee.
A) True
B) False

From what I remember, Paul does not drink coffee. A: True.

7. I keep a lucky penny in my sock.
A) True
B) False

Also A: True.

8. I prefer to use a pencil instead of a pen.
A) True
B) False

I’m not sure about this one. Pens tend to be easier and smoother to write with. Words flow more naturally. Pencils break more and are scratchy. B: False.

9. I like cauliflower with tomato sauce.
A) True
B) False

I’d call this a slightly unholy combo, however I know people who will put tomato sauce on everything, so A: True.

10. I normally eat dinner after 7PM.
A) True
B) False

I think a lot of people eat dinner quite late, so A: True.

You Share: Here are some possible topics for you to discuss.

Did you have any pets? Have you ever gotten lost? Have you ever found money? Are you a cleaner? When was the last time you fell? Do you drink coffee? Do have any superstitions? What do you like to write with? What cooked vegetables do you like? When do you eat dinner?

To answer Paul’s questions…

Our current cat is Castiel. He’s a black and white boy, who is a right mummy’s boy and generally a good boy too. He is quite chilled for the most part, though he tends to prefer his own company and unlike our previous cat, won’t go up to strangers looking for affection.

He’s not the most photogenic cat.

Have I gotten lost? Oh you better believe it. Many years ago, as a kid, we took a day trip to northern France, known as a ‘booze cruise’, to grab duty-free goods. The hypermarket we went into dwarfed any previous supermarket I’d stepped into.

For reasons known only to me I thought it would be a grand idea to explore this labyrinth of foodstuffs by myself. I wandered off, in my own little world, not really appreciating that this wasn’t the smartest ever move, and was actually quite happy, without realising that I was diving deeper into the belly of the beast. I didn’t grasp how far off course I was until a call went out on the speakers, calling me by name. I made my way back to the front of the store to my disgruntled parents and we left.

I wish I could call this the only occasion, but it’s not. I don’t know if I can call it ‘getting lost’, but on holiday in Portugal with my parents, brother and some family friends, I missed the mini-bus because yet again I’d wandered off, this time to look at the info booth at the complex we were staying at. No one noticed I didn’t get on the bus, until the bus was halfway to the nearby town.

To my credit I didn’t panic, I just waited for the next bus, but again, it wasn’t the smartest decision I’ve ever made.

Have I found money… well, apart from occasionally rediscovering coins and notes that ended up stuffed in pockets, the most noteworthy occasion would be the finding of a wallet in a car park. Because we returned it to its rightful owner we got a free taxi ride to and from an airport.

For the remaining questions I’m gonna skip a few… am I superstitious? Tough one. I’d like to think I’m not, but I will take certain routes around lamp posts and road signs. There are certain socks I avoid wearing. I know I exhibit certain OCD qualities with certain words and phrases.

I prefer to write with a pen, and in particular, a gel ink pen or something else that feels like the ink flows easily. I don’t really have good answers to the rest!

So that’s it. That’s my contribution to The Blogger Games. It’s been good fun!
