Film Reviews: Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers

Welcome to one of Disney’s most unique projects in recent times. Welcome to an extremely meta, very clever, and very funny film.

Not only does Chip ‘n’ Dale feature an epic roster of cameos, it combines numerous Disney (and beyond) characters, with the satirical, witty humour of the Lonely Island (see Brooklyn Nine-Nine and their… shall we call risqué songs). This unusual alliance (Lonely Island normally aim their material at adults) has produced something fantastic. Andy Samberg stars as Dale, and John Mulaney stars as Chip, and both manage to perfectly encapsulate these iconic, classic characters, in a whole new way.

The film sends up Hollywood tropes, animation tropes, and manages to become the spiritual successor to Who Framed Roger Rabbit? I don’t want to say too much, for fear of spoiling the movie, so I will say only that it is superb. 10/10.
