If you were put this question to me, I would struggle to answer. A part of me would be tempted to say ‘neither’. Some mornings, I can leap out of bed feeling quite energised. Other mornings, I sort of pour myself out of the bed, like a tired liquid. Some evenings, I feel dog-tired, and can’t wait to crawl into bed. Others, I feel like I could carry on writing, reading, or watching TV for a bit longer.
I guess much of whether I am a morning person or night owl depends on my overall state. Have I had a busy day at work, or a lounging day off? Have I had a cup of coffee after 8pm, or a beer or two? Has the need arisen for hay-fever meds, which leave me drowsy? The timing of when I take them will affect how I feel later. I think what I’m trying to say, in a roundabout way, is that there is no rhyme or reason to when I feel tired, or when I feel energetic.
