Lately, Tik Tok has been offering me food-related videos. Some of these are stir-fries, some revolve around steak, and still others involve deep-frying various foodstuffs.
I won’t lie, some of these creations look absolutely beautiful to me. Layer after layer of cheese and ham, stacked high, then sandwiched in bread, and then deep-fried, produces a gorgeous – if cholesterol-ridden – article of glory. A similar practice was also shown involving chocolate and marshmallows, and I can’t help but wonder if there is no end to what can be deep-fried.
First done in Scotland, there is now a popular practice of deep-frying Mars Bars. This is obviously horrifically unhealthy, and I can’t say I’ve been tempted to try a deep-fried Mars Bar (or any other form of deep-fried chocolate), but then again, I’ve never been in a position to try one. Might I feel differently if I could? Or am I better off with the more ‘traditional’ fried chicken? I mean, it’s healthier…. marginally!
Still, the huge fried cheese and ham monstrosity is something I’d love to get my hands – and teeth – around. Other stuff – like deep-fried pizzas (yes, it’s a thing) is less appealing. I like pizza, but I can’t help but feel it would be too unwieldy in fried form. Wikipedia has a long list of deep-fried foods, and perhaps one day, I’ll try to make some of them. Perhaps.
I feel like people will fry almost anything. Fried Oreos are popular (in Iowa lol), and I’ve had fried ice cream – which is sinfully delicious.
Some things… you just have to try once to say you’ve done it, y’know? lol
Oh absolutely! Mind you, some stuff I am quite content not to try! Anything involving mushrooms, fried or otherwise, equals bleargh!
Ah! There used to be a place around here that made fabulous fried mushrooms with a nice horseradish dipping sauce.
I’m afraid I do like mushrooms. I hope this doesn’t mean the end of our friendship. 😉
Don’t worry, there’s mush-room within my soul to be friends with mushroom lovers 😉
Ah! The Dad jokes are strong with you. LOL
