Following on my video (yes, I am aware I am wearing a Star Wars t-shirt), I wanted to put in writing my initial thoughts on this news.

Firstly, can I just say ‘YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!’.This is absolutely brilliant – we get to see the return of the brilliant Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike. He brought a real warmth and humanity to the role, and I cannot wait to see how this progresses. We get the return of the Enterprise in a leading role, for the first time since Star Trek: Enterprise. It’s obviously hard to declare a TV will be awesome before it’s even aired, but given the hater crowd will declare something to be awful before they’ve seen it, why can’t I be excited for it?

Speaking of the hater crowd (the ones who seem determined to cast misery upon the fandom, and the ones who play angry, divisive games over who and who isn’t really a fan), I can imagine they are frothing at the mouth right now. SNW (Strange New Worlds) will bring back the new design for the original Enterprise, which won’t go down well with them. Their inability to even remotely tolerate change is going to bite them in the ass, and that will be a source of much amusement.
