Meerkat Prompts: Two Weeks in a Book

I confess, dear ‘kats, to agonising over this post. Firstly, should it have been a Meerkat Prompt, or maybe a Meerkat Book post instead? Decisions, decisions!

Next comes a much harder set of choices. If given the chance to have a two-week holiday in the world of a book, which book do you choose?! A number of the books I’ve read have peril and danger, but if we assume there’s no danger to the holidaymaker, where would I go?

The realm of Peter F. Hamilton’s Void Trilogy offers a variety of colourful alien species to interact with, some impressive and quirky technology to play with, and plenty of chaos to embrace. Whilst it lacks the alien element, and is more… let’s say grounded, David Weber’s Honorverse provides many interesting worlds and situations to encounter.

There’s the eccentric too. How about two weeks in the absolutely insane game world of Dungeon Crawler Carl? Again, assuming there’s no actual danger to this vacationing meerkat, this would be a crazy space to enjoy, as would the soaring saga of Destiny’s Boot. Alternatively, I could enjoy a few drinks in a Busty Ostrich, via The Jake Cutter Conspiracy!

Just to present a radically alternative idea, what about two weeks within an autobiography? Getting to spend a couple of weeks following Nigel Mansell around, experiencing his F1 title win all over again, would be fun. To offer yet another twist, SPQR by Mary Beard is a fascinating read on the history of Rome. The chance to immerse myself in that history would be incredible.

If book holidays somehow ever become a real thing, I’d gladly take regular trips to various books, I know that much!
