The Paranoia and Persecution Complex of Evangelical Christians
Written by Bruce Gerencser, here is a fascinating deep-dive into the oft-referenced, rarely-demonstrated Christian Persecution Complex. Christians – some of them at least – love to suggest they are being curtailed. Somehow, their voices are being diminished by society, the state, and who-knows-what else. Of course, they make these pronouncements in any and every avenue where they think they might be heard, including regional and national news, websites with a global reach, and all over social media. It’s true that being a Christian in some parts of the world brings more challenge than in others, just as being a Jew, Muslim, Sikh or Hindu can bring those same challenges. However, the thrust of Bruce’s post relates to the idea that American Christians are somehow facing persecution. I am struggling to think of any group that has so loudly screamed the message they are being silenced. I wonder if irony even exists in their language?
