Socks should fear me. Socks should tremble in my presence, and freeze at the sound of my name. I am their end. I am their predator. I am the Destroyer of Socks.
At least, that’s what my wife would say. I have an uncanny knack for getting through pairs of socks like there’s no tomorrow! I cut my toenails, and I don’t generally do strenuous activities in my socks, yet inevitably, the toes will poke through and the heels will disintergrate. Socks have a short life expectancy in my care.
I don’t quite know how. Like I said, I don’t do anything unusual in them, yet nonetheless they degrade quite rapidly. It’s reached the stage where my wife has bought me ‘reinforced’ socks. They supposedly have stronger toes and heels. In my mind, this is merely a challenge to overcome. After all, I am the Destroyer of Socks.
What I have fortunately managed to avoid doing too often is losing the odd sock. This is not to say that I’ve never lost socks, because I have, but I tend to destroy them instead of lose them.
What about you, my dear readers? Is there a particular article of clothing that has a short life expectancy in your care? Drop me a comment and let me know!
