Meerkat Prompts: First Impressions
Once again turning to The Coffee Monster for inspiration, and not working in any particular order, but choosing the recommended prompt from the 7th of September (yes, posted on the 6th, I’m a bad boy), let’s try to answer the question of first impressions.
I hope people regard me as a kind person, that in those opening minutes of getting to know me, they see me as someone who can be trusted to be nice. I want people to conclude a conversation with me and think ‘wow, what a friendly, genuinely nice meerkat!’ Whether that actually happens is not for me to say, but I certainly have that hope.
It can be different with first online encounters. I dare say I can be a bit more abrasive on social media, though I try not to be. I have been subjected to trolls and cowards online, and the last thing I want is to become them by mirroring their behaviour. What I hope for is that my real-life persona and my online persona are more or less one and the same, and that in both instances, I can leave people with a smile on their face. If the first impression is of a happy, friendly, kind meerkat, then I am doing something right!
