Raise your hand if you deem yourself to be pro-life. By pro-life, you are probably someone who opposes abortion in most or all its forms.
Now ask yourself if you support president Trump’s executive order regarding vaccinations, and RFK Jr’s attitude and approach to medical care.
If you support Trump’s executive order, you don’t really have any business calling yourself pro-life.
If you oppose social programs aimed at resolving poverty, homelessness and disease, you should not think of yourself as pro-life.
Is this likely to be galling to some people? Perhaps. However, if you are pro-life up to the moment of birth, and then in favour of everyone for themselves, you are in fact only a forced-birther. If you think that efforts to resolve the ills that unrepentent greed causes are somehow unfair and that people should be left to fend for themselves, you are not pro-life.
Being pro-life should mean giving a damn about people whilst they are alive.
If you really want to be pro-life, address the gross inequalities in our world, address the issues caused by unchecked greed. Until then, you are a forced-birther, nothing more.
