Meerkat Prompts: Ideal Day
Describe your most ideal day from beginning to end.
Hmm. This isn’t easy. In some regards I would embrace simple ideas, such as having a lie-in. Perhaps, subject to the time of year and my mood, I’d get up early and make a coffee to bring back to bed with me. Whether I get out of bed early or not, a leisurely morning spent reading, writing and playing a few games would be on the cards. It’s possible I might pop out at some stage to stretch my legs, particularly if the weather is nice. A trip into town to the local pub for lunch? I can’t rule that out.
One thing that’s hopefully clear is that my ideal day is not generally sophisticated. My perfect days off from work are days where I am not required to go anywhere or do anything, and can operate at my own pace, doing what I want, when I want. I’ll flick between different activities as and when I desire. My ideal day would have a similar pattern, though possibly with a few extras, such as the aforementioned lunch elsewhere from the home.
If we really want to get into it, the ideal day might involve a lengthier trip, such as waking up in a luxurious hotel in Tokyo, with my wife draped across my shoulder. From there, we’d explore this vibrant metropolis on a sunny day, with our daughter in tow, visiting all the famous sights. You can substitute Tokyo for a number of famous cities. Then again, my ideal day could just as easily be spent indulging in a first-class train ride from London to Edinburgh, again preferably in summer.
I guess if we dig into the fundamentals, I wouldn’t actually want a day that involved a lot of travelling, except in some rare circumstances. A day with the opportunity to sink my teeth into writing would be grand, as would a day spent curled up with a book. I’m a simple man with simple tastes, and it doesn’t take much to make me happy. What might complete the day would be a cold beer in the evening, or possibly even a hot cup of tea and a load of biscuits!
This meerkat is easily pleased.
