The Thinking ‘Kat: Kingly Tales

Recently, there has been a wave of protests against Donald Trump’s apparent drive toward authoritarianism. Across the USA, Americans have made it clear that they do not accept Trump’s ideals or policies. These protests passed peacefully (further rubbishing Trump’s dishonest narrative about the violent left), and despite efforts from Twitter’s Grok AI to declare otherwise, these protests were also phenomenally well attended. Whilst the political situation is one that sees Republicans very-much in control of the establishment (and yet failing to govern, owing to their shambolic government shutdown), it is clear that Americans are increasingly dissatisfied with Trump’s rhetoric and his shortcomings.

Among the problems, you have rising inflation, which is driving up costs. You have Trump’s unhinged tariff scheme, which is hurting US farmers (traditionally among his staunchest supporters). You have his claims of ending wars left, right and centre, which doesn’t marry up to reality. You would think that with all of these problems, he would be focused on working to unite and mend America, but instead, Trump is creating AI videos of him, as a king no less, flying a fighter jet that is bombing American citizens with excrement.

You read that correctly. The president is making videos of himself, literally showering his own people with shit, because they don’t agree with him.

Despite this incredibly petulant and childish behaviour, somehow he continues to enjoy fierce support from conservative Christians. Whilst Trump takes measures designed to restrict criticism of his policies – an as authoritarianism move as one can imagine – his supporters continue to claim that it was Biden and the Democrats who sought to manipulate the media. It is quite clear who is aiming to clamp down on freedom of expression, and it’s not the Democrats.

The No Kings Protests are therefore quite timely. They should serve as a reminder to Trump that he is not a ruler, he is an elected official, and that he needs to represent all Americans, not merely those who pander to him. His conservative Christian worshippers should be taking a long hard look at a man who makes disgusting AI videos of him assaulting his own people, as well as looking at the actual facts of his economic and social policies, rather than meekly accepting Trump’s words. Whether they are prepared for such introspection remains to be seen.
