I made a chili which is moderately spicy earlier. Mr Chazer is just polishing off his second bowl of it. I have friends who love seriously spicy curries and the accompanying input of beer but I’m not that keen on super-hot curry. I go to about Dhansak level medium heat and stop there. Definitely not a vindaloo fan, it’s fair to say. I don’t enjoy the eye-watering fire levels that some hot sauces offer either. We don’t get much spice from either my parents or mother-in-law but are more than capable of making a decently spicy dish here if we fancy one.
I can certainly understand a preference for flavour over fire. I went through a spell where I had zero tolerance for spice, then I found myself embracing it, and now I’m scaling back. My vindaloo days are over!
