The Meerkat Responds: The Angry Gamer

This is the charming message directed at me, because I dared to point out something. I dared to point out facts to this individual, who decided to respond with fury instead of reason. Then again, I should have expected this, given how this person has treated me before, and how they have treated others.

It’s worth noting that firstly, I have not harassed him. If anyone wants to talk about harassment, I can refer to the extremely angry, nasty comments he left on my blog last year, for having the audacity to write about what I choose, on my blog. In a further incredulous act, this person then messaged me on Blusky, upset over me using my profile to express my views. I am aware of this person messaging others, with varying degrees of aggression toward those who do not share his opinions and views. Needless to say, a cursory glance at their Twitter feed will reveal tremendous irony in this posturing.

Their tweet about guns, leaving aside the bluster and rage (anyone who knows me knows this will not impress or intimidate me, I have dealt with worse), is the focus of this response. For the most part, I can simply leave it to another post of mine to highlight why guns are not saviours. Yes, potentially anything can be a weapon, but the USA is an outlier in respect of mass attacks, especially among first-world nations. Canada, France, Germany, the UK, Australia, Japan, and many more developed countries do not have anywhere near the rates of murder that we see in the USA. These countries are not dictatorships, rubbishing the idea that guns are the only guarantee of freedom (and let’s face it, Trump is slowly curtailing freedoms state-side as it is, guns or not).

If this individual is prepared to have a rational discussion about guns and gun violence, I am quite happy to indulge. If they are going to come at me with this sort of rant, they had best be prepared for a response they won’t like.
