Writing Prompts: Luxury that I Need

What’s the one luxury you can’t live without?

This is a good question, and a difficult one for me to immediately provide an answer to. There are a number of things that I would struggle to do without. Some of them are in fact quite trivial and I would only struggle in the sense that I would want them, rather than need them. Others are a bit more integral to my life, and therefore might provide the answer.

I have a weakness for peanut butter.

Whilst I love peanut butter, I could cope without it. This would not thrill me, but I’d manage.

A hot bath (or a cold bath, depending on circumstances!) can be therapeutic.

A bath or shower is absolutely a joyful thing at the right time, though it probably goes beyond ‘luxury’, since keeping clean is sorta vital!

A cold beer, especially on a hot day, is a thing of pure beauty!

I enjoy a nice ale every now and then, and there’s no doubting that beer is a luxury, but I think I could cope without it for extended periods of time, if I had to. Indeed, I’ve done so before.

My laptop is my nexus to the world.

I’d probably have to say that not having access to my laptop would be a body-blow. Between that, and my phone, I have a window to the world that has made my world seem sort of… larger? I use my laptop to do a lot of website stuff, social media engagement, and to write my stories. It would be immensely frustrating to be without it, as proved to be the case a couple of months back, when the keyboard stopped working. When I stop to think about it, this is not inherently great, for it shows a dependence on technology. Still, that is my final answer, so to speak.
