Today is the turn of animated show, and this promises to be difficult. There are many options, all of which have their appeal and sifting through them won’t be easy.
As a kid I loved Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles (they weren’t referred to as Ninjas back then). There were also several Disney shows (Duck Tales is the first to spring to mind), and then there are classic shows like The Simpsons.
They’re not the only cartoons on this shortlist. 1990s show Gargoyles was my introduction into serialised cartoon shows (as opposed to the stand alone format most follow). Transformers (the original, not the various poor quality imitations that followed) was a major part of my childhood too.
For general silliness, there’s the Timon and Pumbaa series.
And who doesn’t love Scooby Doo?
So who wins this round? Having spent half the day thinking it over, I’ll have to conclude Gargoyles wins, with Turtles a close second.
It’s so weird, I never watched any of these. I probably caught a Scooby-Doo here or there, but I never watched it regularly or anything. I also loved the movie The Lion King but have never heard of the show Timon and Pumba.
My little girl loves Scooby. The more recent incarnations of the show aren’t as good, but the earlier ones are still entertaining.
Timon and Pumbaa had a show on the Disney Channel waaaay back. It was chaos, as to be expected from those two!
