Greetings ‘kats, and welcome to a particularly fruity question! In this case, the fruit is the humble grape, and the query is whether you prefer your liquidised alcoholic grapes white, or red?
My personal preference is for the bold intensity of a good red, though I don’t tend to drink much wine (I’m more of a beer person). White wine is nice enough, and can be light and refreshing, but there’s something about the fierce fruitiness of red wine that hits the spot more thoroughly. Mind you, after a few glasses of either I am liable to be merry. Wine tends to affect my system more quickly than beer! Another good reason to opt for beer…
Sometimes, you can stumble upon a particularly poor wine, and for me these have usually been white wines. They have been quite vinegary, and the only benefit to drinking them is if you are actively seeking to get drunk. I can’t say I’ve had this problem with red wine. I think the word I am ultimately looking at in respect of red wine is ‘rich’. Reds tend to be rich with flavour. Whites are milder. Each to their own, but it’s red for me. What about you?
