So it’s all over. The saga that spanned eight seasons over nine years has reached its climax. It’s certainly been epic at times, though the final season has left quite a few fans, including this one, feeling as though, despite taking so long to make it, everything has been rushed. There have been some incredible battles but also some seemingly strange behaviour on the part of several characters, leading me to conclude what the final season really needed was a few more episodes to give a more nuanced, more detailed approach. I’m not going to say Season 8 was all bad or completely predictable, more that it lacked finese. Even George R R Martin, author of the books upon which the series was based, has voiced concern over the final season. Perhaps he will finally finish the books and conclude the story the way he wanted!
