Bloganuary the 11th – Bold

What does it mean to live boldly?

This latest prompt is quite tricky, and it will be fascinating to read the answers of others, because we will all have very different opinions on what it means to live boldly.

I guess, to me, it means doing the things you might normally be hesitant about doing. For example, if you’re not sure about riding a rollercoaster, the bold decision would be to tell yourself ‘do it!’, and the cautious decision would be to say ‘nope’. In many ways the rollercoaster example applies directly to me, as for years I didn’t want to go on the fast and scary-looking rides, until I realised the people on them looked like they were having a lot of fun. I told myself to go for it, did it, and had a lot more fun at a theme park from that moment onward!

It’s not always easy to live one’s entire life by that mindset and caution has its merits. However, if we always said ‘no’ to any yes or no question, we might find ourselves missing out. We need to judge what is bold and what is reckless for ourselves, and it’s not my place to judge this for others, but I for one am glad I’ve pushed myself out of my comfort zone on a few occasions and done a few things I didn’t realise I could enjoy or do.
