The Meerkat Responds: Unrepentant Trolls

As we move toward the fifth month of the year, I am conflicted over what to do about a persistent, cowardly and cruel troll who keeps misappropriating my writing. It is tempting to produce a blow-by-blow account of all their dishonesty, but they have been historically immune to reason. My policy since the start of 2025 has been to ignore them, for they contribute nothing to my life and world in any way, shape or form, but they have of late been stepping up their harassment and attacks. Should I continue turn the other cheek, or correct this malicious troll’s record?

This question gives rise to others. I have had other miscreants to deal with down the years, and I have often wondered if I risk becoming that which I despise. It is so easy to fall into the tit-for-tat trap that these deviants want. They drag you down to their level, and beat you with experience, as the old saying goes. It could be taken a sign of growth to ignore them, but on the other hand, they are out there, spreading lies and deceit, does that not merit a counterweight, a riposte? I don’t know what marks the best thing to do.

What thoughts do you have, dear ‘kats? Have you experience of harassing trolls, and ignorant fools? How did you deal with them?

Can you not simply block them, have their comments go straight to the ‘Spam’ folder and empty it once a day? That’s what I’ve done on occasion and soon they get tired of being ignored and they go elsewhere. Sorry you’re going through this, but it’s par for the course in our world today. Sigh.

Unfortunately, these aren’t comments left on my blog, but rather the posts of another blogger, an unrepentant liar, and cowardly troll. I think they are determined to hound me into silence, going as far as to invent falsehoods in order to do it. They make up wild accusations, which I should publicly correct, but on the other hand, that opens up an unwanted to-and-fro with someone who is incapable of reason. I feel a bit stuck with the whole business.

Unfortunately, it’s not what he sends me, it’s what he posts on his blog. He is determined to abuse my material, and I seem powerless to stop him. He wants me to stop blogging, he desires my silence, as he does with anyone he does not agree with, but unfortunately for him, I will now bow down to his bullying. Nonetheless, there are times when it annoys me.

What I find deeply ironic is how he desecrates his beliefs for the sake of his vendetta.

Does he actually mention you by name?
There are a couple of these Arsehats who banned me then used me ( Ark) as an example of how ignorant, immoral and unpricipled atheism is.
I could not care less to be honest. They simply make fools of themselves.

He refers to me as MM, reducing me to a pair of letters, as opposed to actually referring to me by name. He claims he cannot understand why this is annoying, but this is a lie. It has been explained to him in detail. He reduces me to MM because he can exploit a fantasy construct version of my writing and arguments, as he is too afraid to deal with what I actually have to say. He also does this to evade accountability and transparency, on account of both his arrogance and his cowardice.

Well, either give him a taste of his own medecine or simply ignore him. He’ll eventually get fed up.

I’ve been ignoring him for months. He has not stopped. I’ve tried confronting him too, and he does not change, nor attempt to change. I don’t think he can. He is determined to be cruel, and dishonest, and it seems nothing will sway him from his crusade. I wish he would get fed up, but I suspect the only way that happens is if he hounds me into silence, which won’t happen.

            Then ignore him.
It’s not as if he is sending your employers sketchy photos or threatening you or your missus.
            The guy’s an Arsehat.

@Ark I have tried a variety of ways to deal with him, without success. He’s obsessed with the both of us. He’s written over 100 posts about me. I even offered to send him a poster of me naked so he can put it on the ceiling above his bed.🤣🤣 While we know a lot more about him today — thanks to a relative of his spilling the beans — he is still quite insulated from reprisal.

Thiessen is a good example of how Christian Fundamentalism rots the brain. 🧠 Thiessen is 70 years old. He’s been a Fundamentalist his entire life. What bothers me is his incessant lies, distortions, and name calling. I respond to one post in ten where he mentions me or uses my content. If I responded to this ass*ole every time he mentioned me, that’s all I would have time for.

Only positive is that Ben and I have become friends. Pretty good trade off. ❤️❤️

It certainly serves as a nice piece of irony that Derrick’s efforts to be cruel and nasty have united us! I don’t know why that makes me think of it, but if you ever find yourself on this fair isle, I’ll have to take you on a tour of famous London stations!
