In the wake of the Orlando attacks, and my own thoughts on the tragedy, I had something of an epiphany (inspired as well by some wise words). It can hard – very hard – to stand by your convictions in moments like this. It’s very easy to succumb to hate, especially as politicians and religious leaders whip people into a frenzy. It’s all too straightforward to start blaming all Muslims and Islam for the actions of radicals, but what does that achieve? Hatred begets hatred – this should be obvious from history, yet it’s a lesson no one seems to learn.
So what I propose is a new community site. A place where people from different backgrounds can converse peacefully, intelligently, offering up different ideas and listening to one another. Dialogue is what I want to encourage.

I’ve been thinking lately about a life philosophy where you care about the welfare of other people – even ones you don’t agree with. I wonder what that would be like?
Careful, how will the poor business lobbies that can barely make a few billion cope if we start caring?
Well, why not. Do not ask for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for all of us.
Definitely interested. This is a great idea
